Taking on the challenge of shifting to business systems suited to the accelerating transformation to an eco-friendly society, the R&D Division develops solutions to meet the needs of a new era five to ten years into the future by leveraging our knowledge and experience in textiles, paper, and pulp.

Promoting carbon neutrality
The R&D Division is focusing its efforts on realizing a carbon-zero society by transforming from petroleum-based materials to plant-based materials. We also contribute to carbon neutrality by putting materials previously disposed of as waste to effective use as resources.
Addressing issues related to plastic waste
By utilizing pulp, biodegradable resins and fibers, we provide solutions to the ocean plastic problem and realize a sustainable society.
Promoting future mobility
Recent years have seen a trend toward electric vehicles (EVs) and fuel-cell vehicles (FCVs), progress in self-driving technologies, and the rise of new forms of mobility, such as drones. We will use the power of textiles to promote future mobility in this time of transition for the auto industry.
